BT, TalkTalk to get an appeal hearing

BT and TalkTalk were granted an appeal hearing last week, in their quest to have the Digital Economy Act ruled contrary to European law. They lost the case in the High Court on all grounds except that they shouldn’t be forced to pay for it. The appeal hearing, which had initially been refused, is now set for 7th October 2012.

A judgement in the separate case brought against BT by the members of the MPAA, 20th Century Fox v BT, which asks for BT to add Newszbin.com to its “Cleanfeed” blocking system, is expected to be handed down Thursday 28th July.
